Why do debenture holders sell their tickets?
A Wimbledon debenture is a financial instrument that entitles the holder to premium seats on Centre Court or No.1 Court for every day of the Championships, over a five-year period.
Debentures are purchased by tennis fans and investors alike, and despite their high cost, each new issue is typically oversubscribed.
Many debenture holders choose to sell some of their tickets on the secondary market—where debenture tickets are the only Wimbledon tickets that can be legally bought and sold. Buyers can purchase tickets directly from the holder or via trusted third parties like Green & Purple.
Can I buy debenture tickets if I'm not a debenture holder?
Yes. You don’t need to be a debenture holder to buy debenture tickets—anyone can purchase them on the secondary market.
Choosing Your Tickets
Which are the best seats?
Debenture seats are widely considered the best at Wimbledon, offering premium views of the action:
- Centre Court: Traditionally located in the front 14 rows (A–N) on the same level as the Royal Box.
- A limited number are now also found in the 300s tier. No.1 Court: Debenture seats are in the front 17 rows (A–Q).
