Wimbledon Championships Tickets Gift

The AELTC states that Wimbledon Tickets are ‘not suitable’ as gifts. We clarify this point and explain how and when you can give tickets to the Tournament as a gift.

What are the rules?

The AELTC states in the Wimbledon Tickets terms and conditions of sale, that "...tickets cannot be given to someone else; they are not suitable for gifts".

Although this clause seems categorical, there are in fact a number of ways in which you can legitimately make a gift of Wimbledon Tickets:

When can I give Wimbledon tickets as a present?

Accompany the recipient

If you win the Public Ballot you will have the option to buy two tickets. As the original ticket holder, the rules state that you will need to attend using one of these tickets. You can, however, take another person with you.

If you want to make a gift to an individual who would be happy to accompany you, an individual Wimbledon ticket would make a suitable gift.

You will of course have to chance your luck in the Public Ballot, which typically takes place in December. Successful ballot applicants should be informed from February.

If you win the Ballot, you will be able to transfer the ticket to the lucky recipient via the myWimbledon App.

Note that there will not be a Public Ballot for the Championships in 2022 as ballot winner's tickets from 2020 have rolled over. The Public Ballot will resume in 2023.

Wimbledon Debenture Tickets

Wimbledon Debenture Tickets are the most sought-after tickets to the Championships. Situated on the same seating tier as the Royal Box. Debenture Ticket holders have unrivalled access to Centre Court, No. 1 Court. Attendees enjoy a genuine VIP experience that includes access to the exclusive Debenture bars, restaurants and lounges.

Debenture Tickets are the only type of Wimbledon Ticket that can be legally resold or transferred to another person.

If you are a Debenture Ticket holder, you can legally sell, resell or give away your Debenture Tickets.

Wimbledon Debenture Tickets are therefore suitable as gifts.

Wimbledon Debenture Tickets for adjacent seats are on sale all year round, so you can buy a gift well ahead with certainty.

We had a great time on Saturday

"Just wanted to let you know that we had a great time on Saturday and that it all went smoothly. I didn’t realise it was better than making a booking in a restaurant, but even then we were very lucky to get a beautiful table for 6 at the Wingfield restaurant. It was the only one available! Thanks for helping me organise this nice day with the family and let’s stay in touch for future years."
