There are a number of ways to obtain last minute tickets for The Championships 2021:
- The Queue
- Official hospitality providers
- Wimbledon Debenture tickets
A limited number of tickets for Centre Court and No. 3 Court are made available by the AELTC on Ticketmaster just prior to the day’s play.
Return tickets are sold 48 hours before the day of play. Reserved tickets go on sale at 9am each morning for the following day’s play.
Tickets sold via Ticketmaster sell out within minutes as soon as they are released, so it is very difficult to obtain tickets via this route.
There is a limit of two tickets per person, address or credit card and the cardholder must be attending The Championship.
A limited number of Centre Court, No. 1 Court and No. 2 Court tickets are made available each day (except for the last four days on Centre Court) which means members of the public prepared to queue have a chance to purchase reserved seats for these Courts.
Additionally a few thousand Ground Passes are sold to members of the public in the queue. Ground passes provide access to Courts 3-19 (there is no Court 13) where there is unreserved seating and standing room.
Tickets are sold strictly on the basis of one per person in the queue. Up until 2019, payments were only accepted in cash. Credit cards are now accepted forms of payment.
Ground Pass holders have the opportunity to purchase returned Show Court tickets subject to availability from 3pm each day.
The bar codes of tickets held by Show Court Ticket holders on leaving the grounds are scanned by the Stewards. Together with unwanted tickets deposited in the designated red boxes, these tickets form the basis for the generation of new tickets. These new tickets are resold for the benefit of the Wimbledon Foundation charity.
These tickets are only available to members of the public already in the grounds and therefore also Ground Pass holders.
Demand for tickets available for the queue is extremely high and for the Show Court tickets released each day is likely to require camping overnight. Even for Ground Passes, it is advisable to start queuing a few hours before the Grounds open each day at 10.30am.
Official hospitality providers
The AELTC allocates a number of prime seats to a small number of hospitality providers each year.
The corporate hospitality company Keith Prowse is the official Wimbledon hospitality provider and offers packages of prime seats and a number of different fine dining options in dedicated lounges and restaurants within the Grounds. Hospitality packages are expensive. It may be worth contacting these providers for any late availability or last-minute cancellations.
Wimbledon Debenture tickets
Wimbledon Debenture tickets are the finest seats in the best locations on Centre Court or No. 1 Court. Debenture tickets are also the only legally transferable tickets for Wimbledon.
Wimbledon Debenture seats on Centre Court are located in the middle ring around the Court, roughly on the same level as the Royal Box.
Wimbledon Debenture Holders often sell their unwanted tickets to brokers or sell them to potential buyers directly through marketplace-type sites. A search online will result in a number of sites offering Wimbledon Debenture tickets for sale.
Prior to 2021, these tickets were delivered in paper form, so sufficient time was needed to factor in safe and timely delivery of the tickets. For The Championships 2021, Debenture tickets will be handled electronically, making last-minute purchases more feasible.
Wimbledon Debenture tickets provide access to exclusive lounges and restaurants, some which need to be pre-booked. There is also a dedicated entrance available to Wimbledon Debenture ticket holders. Parking is available to Wimbledon Debenture ticket holders but needs to be booked in advance.
It is illegal to purchase any tickets that are not Wimbledon Debenture tickets or those that have been purchased directly from the AELTC or any of its licensed and authorised sellers.
