Wimbledon Debenture Ticket Worth Champagne

Debenture Tickets are the most sought-after tickets to the Championships. They sell for significantly more than Ballot tickets. But are they worth the premium?

What is a Wimbledon Debenture?

A Wimbledon Debenture is a financial instrument that grants the Debenture Holder (owner) 5 years of exclusive Wimbledon Debenture Tickets for seats on either Centre Court or No.1 Court, for each day of the Tournament.

The All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC) issues new Wimbledon Debentures every 5-years. The funds raised through Debenture sales help run the club and pay for enhancements around the Grounds.

Most recently, in September of 2021, a new primary issue of 1,250 No.1 Court Debentures for 2022 to 2026 was announced by the ALTC. The offer price was £46,000 per Debenture. As Debentures are sold in pairs, the total cost was £96,000 for 2 Debentures.

What is a Wimbledon Debenture Ticket?

A Wimbledon Debenture Ticket entitles the owner to a premium seat on rows A-N on Centre Court (the same tier as the Royal Box) or rows A-Q on No.1 Court.

Debenture Ticket seats give tennis fans the best views of the action on Wimbledon’s historic Centre Court or the Championship’s newly-renovated No.1 Court.

In addition, tickets holders are granted exclusive access to the most prestigious bars, lounges and restaurants the AELTC has to offer. These include The Champions’ Room, The Renshaw Restaurant and The Courtside Restaurant.

The Debenture experience starts as soon as you arrive at the Grounds. You can leave your car in the designated Debenture holder car park, bypass the queues and crowds, and access the Grounds via Gate 4 on Church Road, which is reserved for Debenture Ticket Holders.

How are Debenture Tickets priced?

Most Debenture holders won’t attend every day of the Tournament and they will typically sell their tickets for the days on which they cannot attend.

Debenture Tickets are the only tickets to Wimbledon that can be legally re-sold. There is an established secondary market for Wimbledon Debenture Tickets. Like any other market, sellers will hope to sell high and buyers will want to buy low.

Many tennis fans will buy Debenture Tickets months or even years in advance. As the Tournament approaches, owners may choose to resell their tickets if they cannot attend - often for a profit.

Debenture Tickets tend to increase in price as the Tournament approaches or when there is another Grand Slam in progress.

Ticket holder’s seat numbers are not actually known until the AELTC releases them in May before the Tournament.

Anyone buying a ticket after this date will know exactly where they will be sitting. Knowing the seat number can positively impact the desirability of the ticket and increase the price.

Tickets will ultimately sell for whatever price buyers are willing to pay. Wimbledon is generally regarded as the most prestigious tennis tournament in the world and demand for tickets always outstrips supply. Debenture ticket prices continue to command a substantial premium.

How much do Wimbledon Debenture Tickets cost?

The cost of Debenture Tickets can vary significantly. The difference in price between a ticket on No.1 Court in the first week will be cheaper than a ticket to the Men’s Finals on Centre Court.

Tickets usually start around the £1,000 per pair, but could cost 5 or 6 times more for two seats to the Finals

Are Wimbledon Debenture Tickets worth the premium?

If you are looking for the VIP experience, Debenture Tickets are the only way to go.

Situated on the same seating tier as the Royal Box. Debenture Ticket holders have unrivalled access to Centre Court, No.1 Court and other exclusive Debenture surroundings within the Wimbledon Grounds.

With your pick of the finest bars, restaurants and lounges the AELTC has to offer, you can enjoy a sumptuous lunch before play starts.

You can also catch the morning’s play on the outside courts you can (subject to availability) if you want to.

For those wanting to experience the very best the Tournament has to offer, a Wimbledon Debenture Ticket offers an experience you will never forget.

We had a great time on Saturday

"Just wanted to let you know that we had a great time on Saturday and that it all went smoothly. I didn't realise it was better than making a booking in a restaurant, but even then we were very lucky to get a beautiful table for 6 at the Wingfield restaurant. It was the only one available! Thanks for helping me organise this nice day with the family and let's stay in touch for future years."
