Wimbledon Tennis Grounds

The All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC) offers parking facilities for visitors wanting to drive to the Wimbledon Tournament. In this guide we explain the parking options and offer tips to help you secure a space:

Driving to the Wimbledon Championships

Of all the ways to get to the Championships, driving is probably one of the least convenient. South London traffic during the Tournament fortnight can be very congested, and you could experience severe delays.

If you intend to travel by car, you could rideshare with other tennis fans or members of your party. Either way, aim to arrive at The Championships as early as possible.

Can I park my car at the Wimbledon Grounds?

Disabled parking

Blue Badge holders can use one of Wimbledon’s accessible car park spaces. These spaces are situated in Car Park 6 and Car Park 8, usually on the flattest and most accessible parts of the golf course grounds to enable easy access to the tournament.

Blue Badge parking spaces cost the same as other parking spaces, with discounts available for booking ahead, either online or via this phone number +44 (0)1256 492110.

Is it easy to find an ad-hoc parking space near the Grounds?

No. On an average day at The Championships, the AELTC welcomes around 42,000 people through the gates. During the Tournament, the population of the Wimbledon area almost doubles in size.

This population surge means there are very few parking spaces in Wimbledon's surrounding streets. Heavy traffic is in constant circulation around the vicinity of the Wimbledon Grounds.

Directions to car parks are well signposted around Wimbledon Village.

When should I book a parking space at Wimbledon?

To avoid disappointment, bookings for the Debenture Car Park 8 should be made as early as possible. Debenture Ticket Holders can reserve a space online as early as Spring 2022 via the AA website.

Online reservations can also be made for Car Park 6 & 10,  and you will receive a £5 discount.

Can I park at the Grounds without a reservation?

Yes. It is possible to park in either Car Park 6 or 10 (on the golf course) without a booking.

However these two official car parks are always oversubscribed, so a space is not guaranteed. If you are able to secure a space, you will have to pay a higher parking fee (around £30 per car and £40 for minibuses) if you don't book ahead.

Debenture Ticket holders drop-off zone

There is a dedicated Debenture drop-off and collection zone for Debenture Ticket Holders inside Car Park 8. The drop-off zone is also available as a disabled drop off and collection area.

Are there any other parking options near the Wimbledon Grounds?

Yes. You can park at a various other nearby public car parks.

St Mary’s Church in Wimbledon Village (SW19 7BP) operates a first-come-first-serve parking service. This parking costs around £25, with the proceeds going to local charities.

Is there any street parking near the Wimbledon Grounds?

No. There are parking restrictions in place on the streets around the Grounds during The Championships fortnight.

However, some local residents rent out their driveways during the Championships. If you are searching for last minute parking, look out for residents holding up signposts for parking facilities outside their homes. These parking spaces may be cheaper (though perhaps less secure) than some of the Championship-owned parking facilities.

Is there a Park and Ride service to The Championships?

There were no official Park and Ride services for the 2021 tournament. It is not yet known whether Park and Ride will be an option for 2022.

We had a great time on Saturday

"Just wanted to let you know that we had a great time on Saturday and that it all went smoothly. I didn’t realise it was better than making a booking in a restaurant, but even then we were very lucky to get a beautiful table for 6 at the Wingfield restaurant. It was the only one available! Thanks for helping me organise this nice day with the family and let’s stay in touch for future years."
