How Sellers Are Protected on Green & Purple
Green & Purple helps protect sellers by managing buyer payments, ticket transfers and the payment of sale proceeds. You don't need to collect money from buyers or arrange ticket transfers directly with them. We act as the intermediary, with checks at each stage of the transaction.
How We Protect You When You Sell
1. Buyer Payment Before Ticket Transfer
When your tickets sell, the buyer pays Green & Purple. We confirm that the full payment has been received before releasing tickets to the buyer.
An accepted offer or pending payment is not a completed sale. If the buyer fails to pay, you can consider other offers in accordance with our offer and checkout rules.
2. Secure Ticket Transfers Through myWimbledon
You don't need to transfer your tickets directly to an unknown buyer.
Once payment is confirmed, you transfer your tickets to Green & Purple's myWimbledon account using the instructions we provide. We check that the tickets match the sale and arrange the onward transfer to the buyer's account.
All transfers take place through Wimbledon's official myWimbledon system, providing a record of the ticket handover.
For last-minute sales, we may ask you to transfer tickets to us in advance. These are not forwarded to a buyer until payment is complete.
3. We Manage the Handover
Green & Purple coordinates the transfer between seller and buyer. We provide instructions, check ticket details and deal with the buyer if additional information is needed.
If a buyer has not provided valid myWimbledon account details, we contact them and manage the situation under our Terms and Conditions.
This means you have a single point of contact rather than having to resolve transfer arrangements directly with the buyer.
4. Prompt Payment of Your Sale Proceeds
We forward your sale proceeds within two working days of the buyer confirming receipt of their tickets in myWimbledon, subject to our normal security checks.
You don't normally have to wait until after Wimbledon to receive payment. If your tickets are transferred and confirmed well before The Championships, you can receive your proceeds then.
Your proceeds are the agreed sale price less our commission, VAT on the commission where applicable, and any applicable payment charges.
What Happens if Something Goes Wrong?
What if the buyer doesn't pay?
A buyer may accept your asking price or agree an offer without completing payment.
No binding sale exists until Green & Purple receives cleared funds. If payment is unsuccessful or remains pending, the tickets can become available to other buyers in accordance with our offer and checkout rules.
What if the buyer doesn't provide their myWimbledon details?
We contact the buyer and take the appropriate steps to complete the transfer.
Where you have transferred the correct tickets to Green & Purple, your original seller obligations are treated as fulfilled under our Terms and Conditions. We manage any subsequent arrangements arising from the buyer's failure to provide valid account details.
What if the buyer disputes the payment or ticket transfer?
Green & Purple maintains records of the transaction and the ticket transfer. If a buyer raises a payment dispute or chargeback, we provide the relevant evidence to the payment provider and may take steps to recover the tickets or disputed amount.
Payment disputes are ultimately subject to the relevant payment provider or card issuer's procedures and decisions.
What if Wimbledon is cancelled?
Event cancellation is treated differently from an ordinary completed sale. Buyers may be entitled to a refund, and sellers may be required to return sale proceeds already received.
Our Cancellation and Refund Policy explains how these circumstances are handled.
How You Can Help Keep Your Sale Secure
Our processes are designed to reduce risk, but sellers also have a few important responsibilities:
- Keep your listings accurate. Make sure the court, date and seat details match the tickets you can supply. Update your listing when your exact seats are allocated.
- Keep your tickets available when required. If an accepted offer is within its protected purchase period, or the buyer has completed payment, you must honour the relevant selling obligations.
- Follow our transfer instructions. Transfer tickets only to the Green & Purple myWimbledon account specified in our instructions, not directly to a buyer.
- Keep your payment details up to date. Provide accurate bank details and respond promptly to any security checks needed to release your proceeds.
