How we Verify Sellers and Tickets

Green & Purple checks that sellers are genuine debenture holders, or are properly authorised to act for one, before listings can go live. As part of that process, sellers may be asked to provide copies of the relevant Wimbledon debenture certificate, and Green & Purple can request the certificate again if needed. If a seller cannot prove they are entitled to sell, their account can be refused or terminated.

Green & Purple also checks the ticket information sellers provide. Sellers must give accurate details for each listing, including the event date, court, gangway, row and seat number, and they must update the listing straight away if anything is wrong or if the tickets have been sold elsewhere. If the information is false, incomplete or misleading, Green & Purple can remove the seller or close the account.

The tickets themselves are electronic Wimbledon debenture tickets held only within the official myWimbledon system. They cannot exist as paper tickets, and screenshots or printouts are not valid for entry. After purchase, the seller transfers the tickets to Green & Purple's myWimbledon account, and Green & Purple then transfers them to the buyer's myWimbledon account. That means the transfer happens through the official Wimbledon ticketing system rather than outside it.

In simple terms, Green & Purple verifies both who is selling and what is being sold. It checks that the seller is entitled to sell the tickets, checks that the seat details are accurate, and makes sure valid tickets are transferred through myWimbledon before the buyer uses them.
