Shanghai
The top two seeds of the ATP 1000 level event both lost in the last 16. Carlos Alcaraz was beaten by Grigor Dimitrov, and Daniil Medvedev, the most recent winner of the event in 2019, lost to Sebastian Korda.
US Open Semi Finalist Ben Shelton continued his fine form and took out Jannik Sinner. Shelton would win his first ATP title later that month, the ATP 500 in Tokyo. Andrey Rublev made his second Masters Final of the year by beating Dimitrov in the Semi Finals. Hubert Hurkacz showed what a dangerous player he is when he is on form, by joining Rublev in the Final, beating Korda in the Semi Finals.
The Final went right down to the wire, with both players having match points, but ultimately Hurkacz held his nerve to win his second Masters title.
Beijing
In the last WTA 1000 of the season, Elena Rybakina took out world number 1 Aryna Sabalenka in the Quarter Finals, in straight sets. Newly crowned Grand Slam champion Coco Gauff showed no signs of slowing down by beating a resurgent Maria Sakkari in the Quarter Finals, with Iga Swiatek and Luidmila Samsonova completing the Semi Final lineup. Rybakina was upset by Samsonova, and Swiatek took revenge over Gauff from their last meeting in Cincinnati. The Pole then secured an easy victory in the Final to win the title.
In the men's event, which was an ATP 500, Sinner triumphed over Alcaraz and Medvedev to cap a memorable week and win the title.
European Indoors
The climax of the ATP season takes place on the European indoor hard courts, with players looking to make one last push for the ATP Finals, or simply finish a gruelling year on a high.
The Vienna ATP 500 saw a spectacular Final, with Sinner beating Medvedev in a three-hour battle. In the Basel ATP 500, Felix Auger-Aliassime experienced a much-needed return to form, beating Holger Rune in the Semi Finals and the in-form Hurkacz in the Final to defend the title he won last year.
