Exhibition Events

Despite this, there are several exhibition events taking place in December that do not offer ATP or WTA ranking points but provide valuable match practice ahead of the upcoming season, including the Diriyah Tennis Cup. This event will be played in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from the 8th to 10th of December and will feature big names such as Stefanos Tsitsipas, Daniil Medvedev, Andrey Rublev, Taylor Fritz, Cameron Norrie, Nick Kyrgios, Dominic Thiem, and Stan Wawrinka. Alex Zverev may also make his return from injury here, having not played since the French Open.

The Mubadala World Tennis Championship takes place in Abu Dhabi from the 16th to 18th of December and will feature a star-studded field of Carlos Alcaraz, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Casper Ruud, Andrey Rublev, Cameron Norrie, and Frances Tiafoe. Ons Jabeur and Emma Raducanu will also play in the only women's match of the event.

There will also be the World Tennis League in Dubai from the 19th to 24th of December, featuring four teams competing in a men's singles match, a women's singles match, and a mixed doubles match. The Falcons boast big names such as Novak Djokovic and Aryna Sabalenka, and Alex Zverev will play for the Hawks alongside Dominic Thiem and reigning Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina. The Kites contain Felix Auger-Aliassime and Iga Swiatek, while the Eagles have Nick Kyrgios and Caroline Garcia.

Start of the 2023 season

The 2023 tennis season technically begins at the end of 2022, with the United Cup starting on December 29th. The inaugural edition of the mixed event will take place in Sydney, Brisbane, and Perth in Australia and will feature big names such as Rafael Nadal, Iga Swiatek, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Jessica Pegula, Casper Ruud, and Caroline Garcia.

18 countries will battle it out in matches consisting of two men's singles, two women's singles, and a mixed doubles match.
