March 2023
March marks the arrival of the much-anticipated Sunshine Double, featuring two prestigious ATP and WTA 1000 level events in Indian Wells and Miami.
Indian Wells
Californian native Taylor Fritz will seek to defend the spectacular title he secured last year at Indian Wells. He'll face competition from the likes of Carlos Alcaraz, the in-form Daniil Medvedev, Casper Ruud, and Stefanos Tsitsipas. Although Rafael Nadal is currently registered, he has not played since sustaining an injury at the Australian Open and withdrew from events in Doha and Dubai in February. Novak Djokovic is also slated to participate, but vaccination laws in the United States currently prevent unvaccinated individuals from entering the country. Djokovic hopes to obtain special permission to enter and compete in both Indian Wells and Miami. 2019 champion Dominic Thiem has received a wildcard.
Last year's winner, Iga Swiatek, will attempt to defend her title in a formidable field. Ons Jabeur returns to action after missing February due to minor surgery. Australian Open champion Aryna Sabalenka, Jessica Pegula, Caroline Garcia, and Coco Gauff are also set to compete.
Miami
Carlos Alcaraz made a name for himself by winning last year's Miami event and will aim for a repeat performance in 2023. He'll be joined by familiar faces from Indian Wells, such as Tsitsipas, Ruud, Nadal, and Medvedev. As mentioned earlier, Djokovic is entered and seeks permission to play in the event.
Swiatek claimed the Miami title in 2022, leaving her with numerous ranking points to defend this March. Sabalenka, Jabeur, Pegula, Garcia, Gauff, and others will challenge her reign in Miami.
Historically, March has delivered thrilling matches in these 1000 level events, and this year should be no exception.

We had a great time on Saturday
"Just wanted to let you know that we had a great time on Saturday and that it all went smoothly. I didn't realise it was better than making a booking in a restaurant, but even then we were very lucky to get a beautiful table for 6 at the Wingfield restaurant. It was the only one available! Thanks for helping me organise this nice day with the family and let's stay in touch for future years."
