Alcaraz Claims Monte Carlo Crown as Clay Season Heats Up

Carlos Alcaraz lifted his first Monte Carlo Masters title, overcoming early-round battles and a red-hot Lorenzo Musetti in a thrilling final.

The tournament saw major upsets early on: Novak Djokovic fell to Alejandro Tabilo in his opening match, and Alexander Zverev was knocked out by Matteo Berrettini. Lorenzo Musetti had a standout week, defeating Berrettini, defending champion Stefanos Tsitsipas, and Alex de Minaur to reach the final.

Alcaraz, meanwhile, had to come from a set down against both Francisco Cerundolo and Arthur Fils before defeating Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the semifinals. In the final, Musetti started strong, but the toll of his week showed as Alcaraz again rallied from a set down to claim the title.

Rune and Zverev Find Form

The following week, Holger Rune edged past Alcaraz to win the Barcelona ATP 500 title, while Zverev captured the ATP 500 crown in Munich.

In Madrid, Alcaraz was unable to compete due to injury. Djokovic suffered another opening-round loss, this time to Matteo Arnald, and Zverev was eliminated in the Round of 16 by Cerundolo.

Ostapenko Dominates in Stuttgart

Jelena Ostapenko extended her perfect record against Iga Swiatek to 6-0, winning their first meeting on clay in Stuttgart. She followed up that performance with a victory over Aryna Sabalenka in the final to claim the WTA 500 title. Jessica Pegula took home the WTA 500 title in Charleston.

Madrid Women's Draw Builds to a Fierce Finish

In Madrid, Swiatek has battled through tough matches against Alexandra Eala, Diana Shnaider, and Madison Keys to reach the semifinals. She now faces Coco Gauff, who has bounced back impressively after being bageled in her opening set against Dayana Yastremska. Gauff hasn’t dropped a set since.

The other semifinal features Sabalenka and Elina Svitolina, after Sabalenka won a gruelling two-setter against Marta Kostyuk.
