The European clay swing begins in April, with a 1000 event in Madrid for men and women, and an ATP 1000 event in Monte Carlo at the start of the month.
Monte Carlo
Possessing one of the most picturesque tennis courts on tour, Monte Carlo is the only non-mandatory Masters 1000 event of the year. However, it usually still draws a very strong field, and this year is no different. Aside from 3 Americans: Tommy Paul, Ben Shelton and Frances Tiafoe, all of the top 35 in the world are entered. This includes Novak Djokovic, Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz and Daniil Medvedev. Rafael Nadal will return to action here, a venue where he has won the title 11 times, and once went 8 years unbeaten. Andrey Rublev won his maiden Masters title here last year, and will aim to defend it.

Wimbledon 2026 starts in:
Madrid
The event in the Spanish capital contains an even stronger line-up than Monte Carlo as it stands, with the top 65 in the world all entered. Alcaraz has won the last two editions of this event, and will look to make it three in a row in his home country. His only loss ever at the event was against Nadal in 2021, and he is also entered via a protected ranking.
Aryna Sabalenka is the defending champion on the women's side, and she headlines an equally strong entry list. Iga Swiatek, Coco Gauff and Elena Rybakina will also play here. Paula Badosa and Naomi Osaka have used special rankings to enter. Notable absentees include Karolina Muchova due to a continuing wrist injury, and Petra Kvitova and Belinda Bencic due to maternity.
